  1. i found this project on GITHUB: https://github.com/hclivess/videer
it uses all CPU threads to deinterlace, and seems a little bit faster than the usual Hybrid (that have a lot of functions)

right now to speed up deinterlacing and post processing (cropping and compression) old PAL VHS
i'm using OBS (lossless acquisition) with 2 black bars.. one on top (2 pixels) and one on bottom (10 pixels) to hide desynched parts of the video

leaving the left/right "blackish" bands on final output (stabilizing the vertical line using a line TBC)

OBS(+bars) and Videer can provide a very fast way to deinterlace a large amount of VHS in a reduced time.

How can it be faster if it uses an AviSynth script?

BTW. OBS is not very well suited for capturing. I don't know why some people leave black margins -- the days of DVD are over. And it looks terrible during playback.

    That's destroying the footage.
OBS is not suited in ANY way to do video capture/acquisition. It's really the wrong tool for the task.

It's simply a GUI for FFmpeg with Avisynth support, so it can't be faster in any way.

  5. It probably just uses faster settings by default. Maybe defaults to hardware video encoders too.

i was thinking also this... using default blackmagic software or OBS the outputs (talking about VHS PAL) looks like the same, same colors looking at the R G B histogram. similar size using lossless codecs...

what do you think can be the best aquisition software (talking about cards that not have a modern software .. like ATI USB ... ALL IN WONDERS PCI EXPRESS... old hauppage... OSPREY... ) ? virtualDub+UTvideo ?

UTVideo is good for lossless capture. Use the "ULY2" version:

good because the compression is better than Lagarith? (or there is some more ? )

The main reason is that while UT codec is still developed Lagarith isn't.

Anyway.. UT is a very good codec for realtime/lossless capture.

  11. UT is much faster than Lagarith. You're less likely to have dropped frames with UT.
