Hey everyone, after a long debate ive decided to back-up my dvd collection and store my originals so no further damage occurs to them.
Ive got them all stored onto my pc as .img files, now i've used ultraiso to extract the contents, some of them have 2 folders "audio_ts" and "video_ts" none of my movies have any contents in the audio folder, and occasionally there is a 3rd folder called "jacket_p" or something like that, cant remember as i deleted it and figured i would try again. Anyways, i decided to re-burn one of my back-up's using nero dvd wizard, after burning my movie my menu's work fine, have fine synced audio etc. but when i start the actual movie there is no audio what so ever, any idea's on what i may have done wrong during the re-burn process or extraction process of my back-up .img files?
thanks

I haven't played with nero's DVD wizard, so I can't say if that is the problem. If you extract the img file back out to the harddrive and play the contents, do they work as expected ?
If so, and you are using Nero's DVD Wizard to reduce the size to fit onto a single DVD-/+R, try using DVD Shrink instead. If you are using the wizard simply to burn, then nothing should be affected. You could skip the wizard and simply use the Burning Rom app to burn the files to disk instead, or download DVD Decrypter and use that with Shrink to burn.Read my blog here.

well i am using a ps2 as my primary player in my room, ive managed to get 1 of my back-up's to play fine. i use nero for burning only, no shrinking as ive only been backing up the dvd's i dont need to do any encoding etc. to, not up to spending hours of time to make a back-up of my movie.
ive taken ultraiso to extract the audio and video folder from the img file and ive burned those 2 folders, the picture is perfect, just audio is gone once the movie starts up.
and im not sure what player to use to watch a .img file, if anyone knows its a good idea to try before wasting dvd-r's.

What sort of audio does it have ?
- DTS needs a dedicated decoder in the amp
- AC3 (Dolby Digital) needs a dedicated decoder in the amp unless you switch the player to convert to PCM for you
Have you been able to play any other recordable disks in the PS2 ?Read my blog here.

ive burned 2 so far, 1 had menu audio but no movie audio, and the 2nd one worked perfectly.
maybe i need to re-rip the dvd's onto my pc, anyone know of a program that plays .img files so i can check the movie before i go to another step?
thanks again. -
Yeah. You can mount them on the virtual drive that Daemon Tools creates. Quite easy and convenient. Freeware tool

Stupid question, but do the original DVD play with audio on your PS2, where your rip doesn't?
