I actually have to go down to Scott city, Mo next week for work. (That is where the jail is in the story)
Dont understand all the fuss though.
The prisoners are human being and they didnt steal the vaccine they just got their allocation of it.
Certain areas got their allocations and certain ones didnt the price gouging creeps that charge $100 for a $12 shot is what pisses me off.![]()

Either that or let them get the flu and spend ten times as much treating them or burying the ones it killed or letting the survivors' family sue the crap outof the state for not giving their incarcerated relatives the minimal amout of vaccine to keep them alive.

Amazing. I work for a company that orders me to get a flu shot a no expense. You're willing to let the jailhouse lawyers have a field day with the penal system. Rather give the inmates what they can't get or afford anywhere else for the simple reasons they don't make enough to buy it and they can't go anywhere to get it, because they are guests of the state.
Hello. -
that is exacly what I am talking about...once in jail we ( the tax payer) should not let people get shit for free...have those old folk ( the ones that can not do much ) make garments or a dam shirt to earn the flu shot.... we have to have a tougher skin and not this stupid mentality of well since I slipped on a leaf on your front lawn I have to sue you....
people are going thru loops and driving to canada to get these flu shots ...it would be nice for some medic to bring it to my house ( or jail cell ) while I and sitting back reading a book or watching TV -

People in prison do work! In fact, there is a vast prison industry system in the US on both the state and federal level.
For example, in MO: Missouri Vocational Enterprises
Or here in Florida: PRIDE Enterprises
On the federal level: UNICOR
A partial list of other prison industry programs: Industries Links
Also, many places require people convicted of offenses to pay for their court and jail costs. However, if we want to keep these laws on the books, we have to be willing to pay the price to enforce them.... -

yeah yeah ...you can post all kinds of papers ( including ones done by the parole board and the corrections dpartment) all you want ...the fact I can show you the same amount of papers showing the opposite that is non-governmental docs ( yeah they were assigned to work ...OH yeah and how many followed thru about 50 % ) all I am saying is they have to work to get feed like we all do ,
Unless you are married to a rich spouse ...
I do know they get paid shit on an hourly rate because I used to counsel them ( so I am not talking out my arse ) and I do know what they make because our dept only uses prison issued furniture....but for those that work great I have no problem with that ...I am not saying all inmates are lazy and a burden...but they have to keep producing to keep earning their intake also -
The bad thing is that most of the work they're offered / assigned is of little real use in the outside world. So after they've done their time and turned loose in the streets, getting back into the criminal behavior that got them locked up in the first place is quite alluring.

Well would you rather pay for hosptialisation of 30 or 40% of em?
Anyway what makes you think the only thing in the needle is flu vax? -
I work with inmates that are parolees and I also work with inmates that are still serving their time at a Substance Abuse Facility in Fresno CA.
Two different programs ... the parolees live at a house with 26 beds. They are provided a safe and clean place to live and given a chance to seek work and can stay there a year and when they leave [unless they relapse or get kicked out .... which does happen a lot] they have their money saved up to find a place of their own to live at.
In the few months I've worked there ... some of them drive away in a car they were able to buy ... legally.
The other facility holds 50 beds ... we get men from Folsom Prison and Corcoran I and II .... and other prisons in California ... these people have rights just as we do. After they get down to their last 6 months ... they are transferred to our facility and serve their time ... learning how to live life without drugs.
Inmates with violent crimes are not eligible for this program.
That also includes ... a person who got drunk and drove a car and killed someone [DUI vehicle man slaughter] ... even tho it was an accident the person in question was returned to prison ... kind of dumb ... he was one of our first inmates to be transferred to our facility and only had 7 days left. He was actually one of our model prisoners. He never caused or gave us a problem.
My g/f works [her take home salary is over $2000 monthly] at the Libraries at Corcoran II ... she provides 602s for the inmates .... it is her job to make them available.
What happens when a inmate gets sick ... how many people will pay for the hospital expenses.
If they are denied services ... after catching the flu ... they can sue. If they do catch the flu ... they will be requiring services to keep from dying ... that is expensive. What happens if a correctional officer gets sick ... COs make excellent wages in this area. COs make more than my g/f.
Here are some links .... to how they can sue by using the CDC form 602.

I say, Shoot all the life sentence people and let God decide. If there's no God, at least we'll have alleviated a problem.
