  1. Hi,

I am trying to use Canopus Procoder and it is not working for me. I am trying encode a file into XVID. I installed the official XVID codec and when I set everything up. The Program crashes after 12 seconds of the first pass.

Anybody else had this problem or use XVID with Procoder.

    Thanks for the help,

    Vegas

procoder will not encode into xvid - it is not even listed as an option ..

if you are trying to encode a xvid file into something else .. ffdshow ussually works better to decode for procoder - but you may have better luck frame serving it into procoder anyhow .

  5. Hi,

Thanks for the responses. Procoder does have an option for XVID, if you have the Xvid Codec installed. It just crashes after 12 seconds of the first pass.

I use Dr. Divx, for encoding DIVX files, but I wanted to venture into Xvid, as I see it has a better picture quality.

If you choose System -> AVI Target you can select the XviD codec. I just tried it (single pass - quantizer 4) but during the conversion the XviD Status Window remains blank and after a while the conversion simply stops. ProCoder is not locked up because I can still click the Stop button and retry. If I close the XviD Status Window ProCoder also closes. The created AVI file is empty. I gave up after that.

I gave it another try and it worked when I disabled the XviD Status Window (Advanced Options... -> Debug -> uncheck Display encoding status).

However, if I use the InterVideo MP3 encoder from ProCoder VirtualDub doesn't play the audio, but Media Player Classic does. If I use the Fraunhofer MP3 encoder the audio plays in both programs.
