    Hey everyone,

I ordered "Genuine" Ritek G04's and when i received my order i noticed the disks looked a bit different than my last 3 batches. The disks were plain shiny silver, but the bottom side seemed a lighter purple. Sure enough, when i popped the disk in my comp to check the media code....it came up as RitekG05. Haven't used G05's before, but i've heard they are not as faithful as G04's. I have a pioneer ao6u burner which i use to back up my movies and ps2 games. I went through 75 G04's without a single coaster. What does everyone think....should i make this an issue with the company I ordered from and demand the g04's, or are the g05's worth keeping??? Thanks in advance!!!

Depends entirely on what DVD recorder you have. G05 discs work fine on my Nec 3500, but not so great on my Liteon 1213@1633.

  4. Go5 burned perfectly on my 105, so I don't think you will have any problem with your 106

Got the same thing with a couple of batches of Ridiscs - the dye looks the same as my other discs, but they show as G05 media code. No idea if they will burn at 8x, as I have a Pioneer A06. However, they have been as consistent with burns and compatibility as the previous discs. Possibly a mistake at the factory and the incorrect code was added?

  6. You not the first to say this.. Even here in the UK i have seen a post saying that they ordered
    25pcs DVD-R Spindle x4 Speed (Orange Tango's) 1st Print, Certified Ritek Branded (G04 Dye)
Dvd dricpter shows then as GO5 yet they only burn at 4x....

    Hi Guys.
so whats the bottom line on these Ritek GO5's ? I have gotten used to the GO4's. Lately I noticed the GO5's on the shelves instead of the ol' GO4 faithfulls. Are they a complete replacement and upgrade, ie no more GO4's, and we have to start experimenting again ? Apart from the speed increase to 8x, are they as good and reliable as ol' faithfull ?

  8. RITEKG04 (not GO4) has been discontinued and has been replaced by RITEKM02. RITEKG05 is 8x-rated media and performs just as well as RITEKG04 at 4x on writers that support this media code.

  9. I have been very pleased with the scans from the G05s. See the post below; the last scan was burned on an NEC 3500 at 8X.
