Just ordered The Canon HV 20 HD camcorder, is this a good camera for the price and I also ordered Pinnacles Studio 11 Ultimate editing software. I know many people have had problems with Studio 8,9,and 10 but I really had very few problems with this softwate and these problems were easily solved. Just like to hear any comments about my choices. Also what is the best brand of HD mini recording tape for this camcorder? Thanks-- Russ

Well, you should have asked the questions before buying it. It seems to be a good one per these folks...

I've never used Pinnacles since version 7, didn't like it that much. My personal preferences would my SONY Vegas or Vegas Studio.

Your camera choice is excellent..........I have one too. I can't comment on your S/W choice, I've never used pinnacle products. You can use any mini-dv tapes in that camera. I used Sony Mini-Dv tapes and usually buy them for under $3 US.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........

Good Luck. If you a must have the latest, this is a good choice from all the reviews I have read. However, if you are not an adroit user, with deep pockets, you can run into trouble. I purchased a Panasonic GS-500 (SDVD) and love it. The time for HDVD is not here yet. You will have to downconvert to play on SDVD Players, unless they give you the alternative to use in SD mode? Then, why would you pay for something you will not use for quite some time? The software and hardware are in their infancy. That is why I got one of the best 3CCD in SDVD. It depends on the individual's taste and patience.

Good camera, although if you are spending money to get into high def, I would have also looked at getting some serious software instead of pinnacle. Yes, it would mean a learning curve while you get up to speed with something new, but in the long run it would be a much better investment.

I have the Canon HV20 and I like my camera very much. However one thing that I am a little bit disappointed with is the lack of wide angle when zooming out completely. When I am filming my youngest daughter (16 months old now) indoor I tend to always go backwards until I hit the wall.

So now I am looking into a wide angle lens. I think I will by a Raynox HD-6600PRO lens to make this camera even better for my needs...
