  1. I have some .AVI files in my computer. When i play them using Windows media player or Winamp they play just fine, video is fine and audio is fine.
When i open the windows explorer in thumbnail view, i can't see the first frame of the videos as i should, and when i try to burn them on a Cd, or use Ulead Video Studio or Movie Maker they say the files are not accesible because the video condification is not available/accesible.

I think i may need a codec, i'm new to this video stuff. Can someone help me?

If they play, you probably have the codec. What you might have is a damaged video file.

Best to check them with AVIcodec or Gspot and they will tell you if you need codecs and which ones.

Then, if needed, go to 'Tools' to the left and check the 'codecs' there.
