  1. I run Window's 7 and I have "Window's 7 Codec Pack 2.5.0 installed. The problem is that my

video's are coming out on the dark side kinda. Should I keep using this codec pack or should I

add another codec pack along with this one or should I unistall this one and add something

else and what would that something else be? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Many

    thanks and God bless.

    Keep adding codec packs. The more you add, the better the video will look. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

OK. Seriously. The only good codec pack is the one you don't install. There is no need for a codec pack. Ever.

Dark video comes down to either your player settings, your graphics card settings, or your monitor settings, or a combination of the three.

Start by making sure the player settings are all neutral. If it has a Default button, use it. If you haven't used these settings, don't touch them.

Next, right-click on your desktop and select personalize. Click on Display (bottom left), then click Calibrate. Follow the instructions until your display and monitor are calibrated correctly, then try playing your videos again.

If you can see and hear the video at all, you have all the codecs you need.

    Anyway, from http://www.windows7codecs.com/
it seems that your codec pack includes ffdshow, so you already have it.
So you should have a "ffdshow video codec configuration" too. Should be on your Start menu somewhere.
That has lots of controls to adjust the appearance. See "picture properties" for contrast, brightness, gamma.

Though you should first follow guns1inger's suggestions and make sure your basic desktop and player settings aren't the problem.

  5. Codec packs are for noobs. Real user use only ffdshow + Haali Media Splitter + MPC-HC.
