I am using TMPGEnc to convert AVI files approximately 40 minutes long to MPEG1 format.
The AVI files are between 220k to 350k depending on AVI format and quality.
A majority of the AVI files convert to an MPEG approximately 450MB that can be easily burnt to VCD (using Nero).
About 30% of the AVI files convert to an MPEG approximately 800MB to 850MB. These files do not fit properly on a single CD-R.
Is there anything I can do to shrink the large MPEG so they will fit on a single CD-R? Is there a setting in TMPGEnc that will encode a smaller MPEG?

Are you using the VCD template that comes with TMPGENC? I f you are you should be able to get approximately 80 min of video on a vcd. As to the ones that convert to 800 to 850 MB I you play them I would think they would play for approximately 80 min if you used the vcd template with tmpgenc. Basically 1 min of video equals ~10MB in vcd mpeg format. You can lower the video bitrate setting or audio bitrate setting to produce a smaller mpeg file.
