Memorex 8x DVD-R Media 50 Pack $29.99 at CompUSA

This looks like a great price on 8x disks:

That is a nice price for 8x media, but Best Buy's deal is better on the 8x FUJI's right now. Best Buy has a 50 pack of Fuji DVD-R 8X discs for $29.99, also an instant $20 savings, but they also have a mail in rebate for $5, bringing the price down to $24.99 for a 50 pack. What makes the deal even better is that many of those DVD-R discs are manufactured by Taiyo Yuden. Says "Made in Japan" right on the spindle.

My local BB had two different 50 packs. One was made in Taiwain, the other, Japan. Of course I grabbed the Japan discs. I noticed the bottom of the Made in Japan discs had a "ridged" round bottom while the Taiwainese manufactured discs had a flat, shiney round bottom. .50 each for Taiyo Yuden 8x discs, that was a steal.

The only Fuji DVD media I see in the ad is +R, no -R media.

sullen, I haven't checkd the BB site, but I purchased mine Thursday of last week. The sale was an instant $20 for the DVD-R 8X FUJI's, and also a $5 M.I.R. I searched through all the spindles and there were only 7 Spindles of the -R's left, 3 of them were the -R's that were Made in Japan (TAIYO YUDEN) and the other 4 were Taiwain manufactured. I grabbed all three remaining MADE IN JAPAN spindles, and used a $5 Best Buy rewards zone membership credit I had, it came to $92 and change out the door, so when I get the $15 in rebates, it will end up being about $77 I spent on 150 8x Taiyo yudens which ends up being about .51 cents each. I was hoping they had more spindles at BB when I was there, but unfortunately they didn't. I'll keep my eyes peeled when these are on sale again and bump this post.

Frankly it's a tossup as to what the 8x Memorex -R is. Could be CMC, could be Prodisc, could be Ritek, could be something else.

For the fuji spools marked "made in japan", DVD+Rs are YUDENs!!!!!

$.50 each is one heck of a buy!
