  1. I can burn at 2x perfectly...if I burn a disc at 4x it says it successfully finishes but my dvd player or xbox can't read it...anyone else using an Optorite DD0203 having this problem too? I also have the most recent firmware.

Can the Optorite read its own burned disks? In other words, if you put the burned disk back into the Optorite, will it play in your PC on any player that you have (PowerDVD, Windows Media, etc.)?

Will other brands of disk burned on your Optorite play in the Xbox and your DVD player?

The answers to these will give you clues. It just might be a compatibilty issue with these particular Riteks (they might not be as good as other batches) and your Xbox and DVD player.

I have the Optorite DD0203 and it has been picky from the start. Very picky. I've been through all the firmware upgrades and currently sit at v2.50. It loved Ritek G04 (4x) media, but then something changed. It was right around the time Ritek started offering cakeboxes instead of shrinkwrap. I could take a disc from an old batch and burn 100%, but a disc from a new batch wouldn't verify.

I finally gave up and got a NEC ND-2500a, which I've upgraded to a NEC ND-2510a v2.16 firmware. It loves my Ritek G04 (4x), G05 (8x), TYG01 (4x@8x), TYG02 (8x). Life's short. I use my Opto DD0203 in another machine primarily to verify the burns of the NEC. It's also nice having a burner on the other machine. It isn't just you.
