  1. I have some ownmade Mpeg2 files with several lines of permanent noise in them. The noise appears from line 97 to line 104.
Is there a way to clip those lines out of the result, so I have lines 1 to 96, and lines 105-480 combined to one new frame?
I know I can make them black, but that won'd look very nice in the endresult.

you can do this in most any editor.

put the clip on two tracks ...

crop the top on top track , crop the bottom on bottom track -- do a track motion on either the top or bottom to move them together .. Easier to do i suppose in premiere or vegas (as above)..

What software do you have access to ? It might also be possible to rebuild the missing information as a blend from the lines above and below. Not the best solution, but you keep the aspect ratio correct and don't have a strange cut across the frame.

  4. At the moment I have both Ulead Media Studio and Ulead Video Studio installed.
The noise is really bad in those lines, it's a recording on an old 1983 damaged betamax videotape.

In MSP If you go into file>project settings>global filters there's many filters that can be applied to the file. You can pick a filter (color correction, denoise come to mind) then pick region to just apply it to the lines that are fudged :P The only trouble is using the right one and finding the correct settings for it, might not work at all but it's worth a shot.
