    Hi,

I have already created an MPEG file which is about 31MB. Is there anything I can do to compress this file further, say to less than 15MB? Thanks.

Sure, re-encode it at half the bitrate.

If it's an mpeg2 and you don't want to re-encode at lower bitrate (best method!), you could try transcoding the mpeg with ReJig.

Thanks for all of your replies.

I was finally able to reduce the file's size from +30MB to +10MB, without losing either the video or the audio quality.

    Here's what I did.

I used TMPGenc to demultiplex my already-made MPEG file. Still using the same software, but instead of using MPEG tools to do a simple multiplex with the new video and audio files, I just started a new project, chose the new video and audio files as my sources. Then, I changed the size in the settings to a smaller one (remember, each number has to be a multiple of 8 ). For my project, I changed the size from 352 x 240 to 160 x 112. Everything else was kept the same. The result was that my MPEG file was reduced to +10MB.

The screen size was reduced, too. But it was still watchable. And the quality was very good, both video and audio.

    Thanks again.

  6. Hi,
just to keep the record straight, in most people's book, reducing the size by a factor or 4 (2 in each dimension) counts as reducing the video quality..... Play them both on a 60" tv and tell me they look the same
