  1. Hi All

I am trying to remove a hissing noise from a vcd and am hitting obsticles at every turn. Basically I am using TMPGenc to extract the audio from the .dat file and then trying to use Cool Edit 2000 to remove the hiss. The problem is that the file produced by TMPGenc is in .mp2 format which will not be read by Cool Edit (all that happens is the file that is opened is a constant high pitched crackle).

Can anyone offer any advice as to the required software or a suitable tutorial which will enable me to correct the audio and reencode the VCD back together.

    Many thanks.

  2. Load the MP2 audio file with Winamp and use the include disc writter plug-in to save it as a PCM WAV file.

Load with CoolEdit and do the necessary noise reduction -- resave as PCM WAV file.

Use your favourite MP2 encoder to reencode the audio (I strongly recommend tooLame -- do not use TMPGEnc's include audio encoder as it quality is not good).

    Remultiplex with the video.

    Regards.
