I've been using printable CDs and DVDs as of late, but none of them actually print all the way to the center hole. I desided to put on a hub label then print to a CD...

That sounds like a lot of work Stiltman. Isn't even a hub label capable of of offsetting the balance of the DVDR and other bad stuff. I don't trust any stick on labels.

A good idea. The hub label won't cause any problem.
The only problem is how to apply it since no applicator supports hub label.

ST's core label or hub lable has a bigger hole. I have not found any lable applicator support it.

Please let us know what applicator supports ST's hub lable.

BWT, ST's lable applicator is a crap for sure.

I just recently purchased ST's hub labels, S/W and plastic labeler, and although the hole on the plastic labeler is the correct size, it is still useless in getting the label on the disc centered, no matter what I tried. I find I do a much better job in getting those hub labels on and centered freehand.

I started messing around with my purple applicator again once this thread got busy. I found I could do it well freehand, but I also got acceptable results by pressing slowly straight down on the disk as close to its center as possible.

Just slapped it on as close as I could get by eye. Didn't use any guides or dowels...

It might be off by a millimeter or less...Big deal
It works though...

Time wise, took all but a minute and was not trouble in my book...I was just wasting time and had a few of these lable left over.

I think you may have NEATO core labels as well. The Surething ones are too big for it as well.

Why mess around with hub labels, if you want full coverage why not use full size labels that cover the whole disc including the hub. You even get an alignment tool if you buy a pack of Avery Labels.

Be advised, this is what he means by it working with all sizes (this is the fabulous CD Stomper and a Surething core label). I guess one size does not fit all.

what does the stomper itself's background have to do with anything??? if the peg that goes into the disc is the same as the hole in the label, then it will be centered?? unless of course your label is some sort of weird shape!

Please, try to follow along. The images show that Surething core label center hole is a little too big for the CD Stomper to properly center it each and every time. Therefore it doesn't fit the bill in this case, i.e., it won't center your core labels.

now i see where you're coming from. it's hard to tell about the MIDDLE of the label. and since you red lines were on the outside that's what i was looking at.

so, from the sound of it...is there not a "stomper" type thing that's made specifically for this?? seems like that would be a simple fix.

You may have hit the nailon the head. I asked for someone to measure the size of the NEATO core label's hole, but no one bothered. Before I pay two and a half times as much for NEATO labels over Surething's I think I should be be sure.

Im thinking about buying the Neato lables .the only thing will the template i have for surething work with the 20 per sheet neato supplies??? surething holds 26 per page!
surething labeles need to be smaller why would they make them an odd size like that ????

Note though that no label should fit into the very center of the hole. That would add extra thickness to the very well specified thickness of the DVD where the spindle grips it. Wouldn't you just love to have your DVD player or recorder stop working well with unlabelled DVD's because it no longer grips them properly? Many use other methods, but a poorer spring system could be affected.

Reason enough for a label maker to stay away from that area. Not that poor design couldn't be argued, but wouldn't they just love to have to defend against a class action lawsuit? Low probability of significant problems, but if I were designing a label I certainly wouldn't make it interfere in this area..

Unbelievable this has gone on so long.

Got out my digital calipers, here are the results:

1) DVD Spindle: 0.582 inch
2) DVDR: 0.592 inch
3) Neato Hub Post: 0.591 inch
4) Neato Hub Label: 0.594 inch (Plus or minus a thousandth or two, that one's difficult to measure with real precision)

Sorry, don't have one in metric. :P

Not sure what brand my applicator is... I've had it forever. Maybe stomp... I dunno. But I've used Hub labels with it and they fit perfectly.
