  1. I just picked up a WD TV Live Hub last night. Some first impressions.

Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0, HDMI, Composite A/V, Component video, Optical audio

No funky cables for Component out, it has real RCA RGB ports.
I unplugged my old WD Live Plus and plugged this one in. Done
I ran the WD Discovery software on the computer and mapped it as U:
I then started copying video over to it through the network.
While it was copying I was able to use Netflix once I activated it on the account. I was able to play video off of it while it was copying too.
Setting up all my preferences took a little while. Such as Screensaver off, List titles on the left with a preview window on the right.
It will take a little getting used to the different interface. I can see some potential there in customization. Need to read the manual.
It seemed to play or not play exactly the same files as the old one.
Nicer remote, customizable buttons too. Now I just have to get used to the new remotes layout and program it into my Logitech remote.
It is bigger which I expected with the internal terabyte drive. Not to big however.
So far that means 3 TB capacity for it, 1Tb internal, 1Tb USB drive & 1 Tb NAS drive
Turning it on, it said update available.

Cons: Only 1 USB port, I stand corrected it does have two USB ports however the manual says for USB Port 2 "The same function as USB port 1." Does that mean two seperate ports or that both ports are the same usb port replicated front and back" That'll have to wait for tonight to check on.
Having to learn new interface and remote.

Overall probably cheaper than buying the Live Plus and a 1 Tb USB drive

Does it have folder and subfolder support for the internal hard drive that you could navigate with the GUI, or are all the video files displayed together in one big mess?

    Example of folder and subfolders:

    Movies
    - Action
    - Comedy
    - Drama

    TV Shows
    - 24
    --Season 1
    --Season 2
    Lost
    -- Season 1
    -- Season 2

  3. It has folders and subfolders that you can navigate, otherwise who would want it. You have to select which drive you want to use. I have three, Internal, USB and a NAS drive.

A Quick note that I didn't mention above:

I tried out the function where you can input a time to jump to. On a 19 minute video enetring 5min40sec. jumped to there and then entering 5min jumped to there since I had overshot.
If I'd known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself.

Thanks for the review. I might pick one up for Christmas.

I read on another site that it did not display folders, but instead listed all the files on a drive in one big list. Good to know this is not the case and it has folder support.
