I recently bought Sony DRU-530A DVD+-RW/_-R/CD writer and installed it on the same PC which coexist with my LG CD Writer. The Sony DRU-530A is supposed to support not only DVD +-R/RW but also CD-R/RW.
I wanted to test the CD-R/RW feature on the Sony and started trying to use it to format my CD-RW disks first and then used it to make VCD home movie using Nero Ver 6.3. Randomly, I found that I could only successfully created 50% of it (4/8 VCD) works properly. I can't play the home movie on any of the VCD/DVD player for those failed.
When I tried to reformat the failed disks and it HANG the system. When I rebooted the PC and tried to reformat it again. It complainted the disk may be damaged. I then tried to use the CD-Writer to format it and have the same problem for those CD-RW disk failed.
Can someone please tell me is the Sony DVD writer damaging my CD-RW disks ? If not, what is happening to my CD-RW disks. They have not been used no more than 2-3 times.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
