I've just uploaded a sample VCD-compliant MPEG captured using PowerVCRII and the I/O Magic PC PVR card. It was originally captured using the "Excellent" MPEG1 setting and then re-encoded to VCD-compliance using TMPGENC.

  3. hmmm, land of the giants... interesting wanna watch it

not that I"m not thankful for the clips but it's kinda short and not much motion to judge the quality of the captures

also it's kinda defeat the purpose of "realtime encoding" if you have to reencode it. Iwas looking for a direct VCD copmlient capture,

    thanks anyway.

geniv, Yeah, I know there wasn't much motion. I'll try to capture a different clip. As for re-encoding. Under "normal" circumstances, I would agree with you. However software-based on-the-fly MPEG capture stinks, it is necessary to capture at a higher bitrate to get acceptible results. Also, since I'm capturing these shows off of commercial television, they have to be editted anyways to take out the commercials.

  5. yeah, realtime software vcd encoder is crappy.

I tried NanoDVR even with the setting tweaked the capture is nowhere near what I got with my PV233. ohh well.

  6. Good pick on capture setting! anything less is block city and Tmpge leave audio breakup. Well at least the old 12B version.

Did a capture of two people on ice in a BOA ad and looks good for a "Econo" card.

Wonder when Cl will release there HW Mpeg2 Card?
