Im running some tests, this is not for production use. I wanted to capture in mpeg-2 with vdub using the ffdshow rev 3631 which is apparently the latest available rev that contains the mpe-2 codec that im trying to use

Aside from any sync issues that may arise, i need some help on the most compatible standard DVD settings to properly set up the encoder. Can somebody please walk me through each of the mentioned settings?

    Generic Settings

b frames (i know this needs to be turned on, atleast for me, so i can run it through ffmpeg with settings -target dvd-ntsc and have it come out dvd compatible)

max. consecutive b frames (default is 1) (dynamic is checked, and refine unchecked)

closed GOP (default is off) (note, im not going to be using any multi angles, but i am going to be using standard 5 minute chapters, as opposed to scene detection chapters)

Interlaced encoding (I set to ON (checked))

TFF(I set to ON (checked), it states (for interlaced encoding only))

Reserve space for SVCD scan offset user data (default is unchecked)

    Motion Estimation
    any suggestions here?

    Quantization Settings
(was going to start back off with Q3, so file doesnt become too large for 2 hour capture)

Q Type (default is H.263, wouldnt i want to use MPEG here to match encoder?)

    Trellis(default is unchecked)
    I Multiiplier -0.80
    I Offset 0.00

Quantizer Noise Shaping (default is disable)

    MPEG2 DC precision(default is 9 bits)

If anything is other than default, can you please give me suggestions for them so i can make another test run?

    Thanks in advance
