    Imaging Device: 1/6 Inch, 460k Gross Pixels CCD
    Video Actual: 290K Pixels

    my question is this.......: what is 460k gross pixels ? and wat is video actual 290k?? why the video actual is not 460k ?

  2. Is this a camcorder? If so, the extra pixles are probably used for electronic image stabilization. The actual CCD is larger than the image that is saved. Normally the very center of the picture is used. But when the camera shakes, the image shifts a little off center. The camera detects this and takes the image from the off center position.

    The other possibility involves the way images are produced from the actual sensors on the CCD. There usually isn't a 1 to 1 matching of the sensors to pixels. For example, the CCD doesn't normally have a red, green, and blue sensor for each pixel. So the Gross pixel count could be the number of raw sensors on the CCD, whereas the net pixel count refers to the image created from those sensors. This is a complex subject.
