  1. Hi
I used to own a FlyTV 98 in europe,It was PAL but I could also capture ntsc videos (well it was kinda hard due to software but I could)

Now,I moved to USA and bought a STB PCI off ebay. This card cant capture PAL videos.Well it can but only black and white, with losing some lines at the bottom, out of sync and with dropping 5 frame every second..When I try to capture at 25f/sec..It does but when at the playback..the avi is like a slow motion..when I capture at 45-50f/sec..it seems better but out of sync..

I dont think there is anyway to solve this..So Im looking for a multy system card that can capture both PAL and NTSC videos other than FLY98 which is really hard to do..

It's often been mentioned that the same capture cards sold in the US often don't have the PAL feature, whereas in Europe they give you PAL and NTSC (Maybe thats why they are cheaper in the US??).

I would suggest you look through the Capture Card List on this website and also look at the comments given by users of that capture card on the far right.

could you list them for me ?
Btw,other than capture..can you watch and surf channels on pal braodcasts ?

because with my flytv98..I couldnt surf ntsc channels..it was so lame.
when I had to change a channel..I had to switch ntsc to pal..go to the channel I want, then switch it to Ntsc again to watch the channel
    otherwise,I had nothing

Im about to get Hauppage Win-TV Go or FlyTv98,I dont want to get FLy though, is Hauppage good ?

  5. Hi, I am also a Brit now living here in the US. The problem you described is probably becuase you that card is using a different PAL version, yes there is more than one, there are several countries that use PAL but slightly different variations. I brought some tapes with me from the UK and am only now trying to get them converted. I have an ATI AIW Radeon which can handle all these formats. I am getting a VCR capable of playing PAL tapes and hope to take the output from this into my Radeon to digitize them. If you like I'll keep you posted on how this goes.
