    I am new to this field. Are there any applications that will add a wav file to an existing mpg file?

    If all you want is muxing, you can use TMPGENC for this, it does it very well.

    Otherwise, if you need more functionalities, Adobe Premiere, Ulead Video Studio, Video Vegas come to mind. I also use Moviestar, which comes with my Dazzle DVC II video capture device.
