  1. I have two big problems with learning Ulead VideoStudio 7.

The first is that, more often than not, when I start up the program the interface appears corrupted. That is, the standard gray background appears to be replaced by what looks like the Windows maximize button. I have the latest NVidia drivers on my machine.

The second is that VS7 seems to want to not get past the 4GB limit. I have a 60GB drive and a 120GB drive, both of which are running NTFS. I've tried capturing to both, but they both seem to break the clips up at 4GB. Any suggestions?

Many thanks in advance for the replies!

What's your desktop resolution? VS7 won't even open when my display is set lower than 1024x768.

  3. Not completely sure as I'm at work at the moment, but I know for sure that it's 1024x768 or greater. I'm pretty sure it's either that or 1152x864. I have dual monitors, would that be causing a problem, perhaps?

    Thanks,
    Kenneth

To find out what your desktop res is, right click on your desktop and select properties, then go to the settings tab. If it's 1024x768 or above I can't really help you any further. You might want to try re-installing or contact Ulead customer service.

  5. Well, my screen resolution is definitely set at 1024x768 or higher. I've just contacted Ulead's tech support system; I'm hoping it's a known problem with a quick fix. As far as the 4GB limit goes, I noticed that there's a patch to v7.01 on their site with the following fix: "Seamless DV Capture - In the patch, there won't be file size limitation when capturing video on NTFS system." Seems as though that's my bug, I'm going to apply it tonight when I get home and try it again.

I'll post back where what I find out from Ulead in case anyone else may be having the same problem.

    Thanks,
    Kenneth

  6. Hello again,

I've applied the 4.01 patch for VS 7 and it seems to not only have taken care of the video 4GB limit problem, but also the interface corruption problem. I've been using it with the patch applied for some days now and no problems. Just wanted to report this solution in case anyone else comes across the same problem.

    Thanks for the help!
