Did it play DVD-Rs before you had it chipped ?

There are a couple of threads running at the moment reguarding PS2 playback . Someone suggested using +R discs also that the earlier PS2s are iffy with backups . I guess they started using different lasers.

  6. it would probably help if you told use what series your ps2 was. There are anumber of posts that talk about the PS2. I know 2 people that have ps2's and they play back dvd-r's no problem (the v5-6 one didnt like "thin" princo media until I cleaned the laser for them) and the v7 played everything.

What series do you have and is it rated to play dvdr media? I am too lazy to do the search for you, but there are some in depth documentation that discusses which versions play what.

  7. Your PS2 will play DVDR’s what you’re going to have to figure out is which media it likes, I have a version 3 and it plays DVD+R’s fine as well as - . So try some different media types as well as brands. Keep in mind that the software that you use to burn the author the DVD could be the problem as well. I have used DVDShrink & DVDDecrypter combo and have never had a problem. Trust me it will play them, I could be wrong but I don’t think being chipped has anything to do with it mine is not chipped.

I hope you meant DVD writer recorder??? If it only burns DVD- then your PS2 may not play it.

I may be missing that you are making a joke, but if not, I dont think that you can play a CD on a PS2. Again, if you are serious, you might want to start a new post (or better yet, do a forum search) for PS2's playing CD's. My guess is that all results will say it cant be done.

  12. You didn't say what mod chip you have but to play dvds you must put it in dvd or ps1 mode not ps2 mode. ps2 mode is just for games. Look the chip instruction book.
