Howdy howdy. Short time lurker, first time poster.
I hope to one day contribute to these forums as my experience increases. As it is, I need to borrow some knowledge.
1. I am getting lines in my .avi after recording from Hi-8 through an ATI aiw 9200. I am using the huffyuv codec and pcm audio codec. Im at a loss on how to handle this problem (due to my lack of experience). I am recording with ati's mmc (the newest). If I record to mpeg2 and use video soap, i can take care of the issue. Is this issue known as interlacing?
2. I have tried to use vdubmod and vdubvcr. I can get video (with lines of course) but for the life of me, I can not get any audio. I have tried my on board sound card and my audiophile 24/96. If I take an avi recorded from another source (ati) and play it in vdub, the sound cycles from loud to inaudible, ad infinitum, or until the avi ends. Is there a cure for the vdub sound issue. I think I have checked every setting in vdub but have been unable to clear the issue.
3. What format is better to edit in? Avi or DV? I am trying and thinking of buying Sony Vegas. I have tried to edit avi's in it but the video is just messed up. The screen is basically red. I can convert an avi to dv and then bring it to Vegas. Can Vegas take care of the lines (interlacing?) and the motion blur in the captured video or should I purchase a different capture (I can budget about 500 for this if needed).
I hope this is the right place and I hope to get these issues resolved soon. Your advice is sorely needed.
Thank you!
