A couple of Days ago, after running a virus scan over night, when I woke and close the virus program, I noticed these lines on the desktop. I restarted, they went away. Last night I left a browser open, when I woke and close the browser, the lines were there again. I updated the onboard graphics driver after the first time I noticed it, didn't help. When the lines are there, their color changes, depending on the background of the whatever folder or page I'm looking at.

That may mean your graphics card is failing. Or overheating. Check your fans. Open up the case and blow out the dust.

I unplugged the monitor and tried another one and the lines weren't there. I put back the old one and the lines were gone as well

Do they go if you refresh the desktop? (either click on the desktop and then press {F5} or right-click on the display and choose Refresh from the pop-up menu - not sure if this is applicable to all versions of Windows.)

They didn't when I refreshed. I just noticed them again, switched monitors again but they were still there. I'm blowing out the whatever dust is in there, seeing if that helps
