Can you author mixed resolutions on one DVD-R using Maestro or will I run into problems playing back on standalone DVD player. (I have a Pioneer 333)

Don't know about Maestro but I believe you need a new titleset for each resolution
Can Maestro do that? -
I don't know about any given authoring program, but the DVD requirements definitely require that different resolution assets be stored in different titlesets. But you can definitely mix and match resolutions on a DVD, you've just got to keep them separate.
Also it might have just been a typo in your subject line but 320x480 is not DVD compliant. You'd have to resize that to 352x480 to be dvd compliant. -
Thanks bugster and adam,
320 was a typo….. I created 4 separate movies in Maestro 2 at 720x480 and 2 at 352x480. I will burn and see if it will play.
Appreciate the feed back. -
You can trick your DVD authoring program by patching the header info of MPEG-2/VOB files with DVDPatcher.
See this guide:

yes you can mix picture res with dvd maestro. HOWEVER maestro will make everything 720x480 in the ifo files, so after you are done authoring your disc, use ifoedit to fix and list the correct picture aspect ratio for whatever clips need it
-
I did use ifoedit and changed my resolution to 352x480 after compiling with Meastro. When I play the 352x480 segments the DVD plays for about 1 minute then freezes and goes back to the main menu. When I play the 720x480 segments there is no problem. (This is on my Pioneer 333 player) The DVD seems to play fine in my PC DVD drive.
Any other suggestions….. I’ve been playing with this for a while with no success. -
hmm perhaps their is a glitch on the disc? Can you try it with another disc?
At first it sounded more as if it were an authoring error. That perhaps by accident you may have assigned a chapter to go back to the main menu after it was done playing, but then you mentioned it did not do this in your pc. This is leading me to believe it may be the media. Is it a generic disc? can you try it on another brand, perhaps use an rw disc?
I have made many dvds that have the mixed size and have never had a problem with them, this includes playing on pioneer decks as well -
Thanks Mazinz,
I have tried different RW’s but they are from the same batch (Princo...) I will try it with Maxell. -
THATS probably why. if i may be so bold (although quite a number of others will agree with this):
Princo's = shit
maxells are pretty good
