  1. When trying to capture vhs tapes, even the ones that I recorded from tv, the preview flashes (like a photo camera flash) repeteadely and sometimes the image is constanly very bright (without the flashing).
I've searched in the forum, but the only clue I got is macrovision problems, that I discarded due to old tapes recorded by myself,
and wiring problems, but I replaced the wiring several times, changed to another vcr once and nothing happened.
I have an ATI AIW RADEON.

    Could someone help me?

By the way, the problem is only with RCA. Svideo conection is ok.

    Thanks in advance,

  3. Sounds like you have Macrvision problems with the AGC embedded in the rage chipset.

What kind of VCR are you using and what condition are the tapes in? Assuming you aren't having MV problems (since you say this occurs even with tapes you recorded from TV), I have found that ATI cards are somewhat picky about the source material you feed them. I had somewhat the same problem with some old tapes and my old Sony SLV-740HF. It disappeared when I purchased a JVC HR-S9900U with the built in TBC and used it to play the tapes.

I think the ATI cards are just sensitive to poor/weak video signals. Most likely you could also correct your problem with a stand-alone TBC.

  5. I have used a Panasonic and a Sony vcr, brazilians ones with PAL M output, both with the same problem...
I believe the problem is a week signal too, but I'm a newbie and don't know about TBC...could anyone explain what it is and if its could solve my problem?

Once more I'd like to thanks all of you for ylour help...

Try the Macrovision hack. I had the same problem and it magically went away after instsalling the hack.

I've seen many post including mine with a common thread, ATI cards. I'm a newbie so I could be wrong.
