  1. When I capture video with my ATI card and play it back I get no sound. Here's some detail on how I'm doing the capture. It's a ATI AIW 9800 Pro and I'm using MMC 8.5. My sound card is Sound Blaster Audigy 2. I'm capturing from Directtv receiver and I have sound fine during the actual footage. I'm capturing to MPEG-2 format. It doesn't matter what player I use to play back the footage, I don't have sound with any of them. I looked at the file properties during playback and it shows the audio portion as using Ligos codecs. I'm not sure what that means.

Any ideas or suggestions on things to check or am I doing something completely wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Have you connected your ATI card to the soundcard?

  3. I have the AIW 9600 Pro and the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum, so my setup is very similiar to yours. I had the no audio problem at first as well. I had the ATI audio out plugged into the Line-In 1 on the Audigy, but no sound (no sound during record, but could hear it fine while watching). For me, I had to use the Creative Sound Mixer and set the record in option to "What You Hear" in order to get the audio on capture. The thing that bothers me is that I have to manually set the mixer to use this input each time I start the TV program. Anyway, I bet your problem lies in the Sound Mixer recording from the wrong input. Give it a shot ...

  4. Thanks for the replies. I checked the Creative sound mixer and it was already set to "What you Hear". I went back into the TV application and re-run initialization wizard and the sound setting was set to SB Audigy Microphone, so I changed it to SB Audigy "What you Hear" and it started working.

    Thanks for your help.

  5. Well, you also helped me solve my issue of having to manually set the record in option each time. I also re-ran the Initialization Wizard and was able to set it to Line-In. You might want to do the same, as the problem with "What You Hear" is that it will record any system sounds and such while capturing. In other words, if you are doing anything else with the PC (which I do a lot while capturing), if that program makes a sound, it will record it with your capture. Setting the capture to record only the line in you need will solve that problem. Just an FYI though ...

  6. I'll give it a try. Did you have to change your mixer setting also to 'line-in' or did you leave it at 'What you Hear'? I don't remember seeing a line in option when I went through the initialization wizard but I'll check it out tonight. Thanks again for the info.

  7. No, now that I've set the TV to use line-in to record, the sound mixer automatically goes to Analog Mix when I start the program. That was what kept confusing me. I couldn't find a record-in option that used Line-In specifically, but while running the Initialization Wizard the second time, I told it to use Analog Mix and it then popped up a window asking me to select the specific line-in to record (and Line-In was then an option). According to the Audigy manual, you do have to use Analog Mix to record CD, Line-In, etc.. Seems a bit confusing to me, since Line-In 2, Aux 2, etc. each have a seperate record option. Oh well, at least I managed to figure it out, and has been working fine.
