Deleting extras

How do you delete extra parts of a dvd that you dont want then use dvd shrink? I tried to reaurthor with dvd shrink but the cursor on the menus is missing. I was told you can delete parts then use dvd shrink. I looking through the guides but can find out how. Please help.

I can re-author a DVD in DVD Shrink and de-select the EXTRAS folder, producing a DVDR with only the main title. However, when I don't de-select the Menus, I can't access any menus on the burned DVDR -- only the main title plays. Does the "EXTRAS" directory typically contain necessary files (beyond the actual 'extra' video bonus tracks and so forth) that are necessary for the menuing system to work?

simply put....if you go into Re-Author mode you're making a new dvd and the old menu's will not be linked to anything. So, if you still have them on the dvd, all they do is waste space.


The only way to keep the menus is to use Back-Up Mode rather then the Re-Author mode. But then you have to keep almost everything (including subtitles). You can compress the dvd components at different levels though. There are also some programs like DVDStripper that you can use to remove FBI warnings, etc. prior to using DVDShrink.

just use full back up mode and make everything you don't want into still pictures.

I believe DVDStripper is a program that will do that if you use it prior to shrink. Then DVDShrink in Back-up mode if you want to keep menus.

If you use Re-Author mode the old menus are no longer linked to the new dvd.

You can do a lot of different things with IFOEdit as well. There's a bit of a learning curve with it though.
