  1. Hello,

I'm using a variety of programs to convert videos (mainly HD, matroska, h264 files, to Divx files), for playback purposes.
My problem is that when the original video contains subtiles (which however are NOT shown when I'm using an external .srt file for subs), when I convert it to Divx, the new file has the subtiles "embedded", "hardcoded", so they always show, on top of any external .srt file subs I want to use.

Is there some way to exclude those "internal" subs during conversion?
I've tried Xilisoft's Video converter, Format factory and a few others.

(btw, if you have a good solid program to recommend, pls go ahead, as everything I have tried so far is either unstable, not supporting the kind of files I'm using or lacks options etc etc).

    thanks

If the subtitles are being rendered on top of the video by your play, just delete the subtitles file. Could be a .idx, .sub, .srt etc. This file is most likely in the same folder as your video.

If the subtitle is embeded in your video, but not exists as a .srt or other formats, then you won't be able to disable subtitles by any programs.

If you do not want the subtitle only when you watch the video, you can disable it in the media player. For example, in VLC, go in the Video menu and the last item is subtitles track. You can try to turn them off there. Other normal media players also have such function.
