  1. can someone suggest a good and easy to use mp3 ripper program so that I can extract music from my dvd's?
I have besweet and can't fathom it out at all so any directions with this would help also, otherwise I need a bog standard ripper that does the tracks to mp3 and nothing else.
    help is really appreciated.

  2. The problem is that DVD audio is MP2 and you're after MP3, so you'll need to rip to wav first and then convert to MP3. DVD2AVI will get you the wav audio and CDex will convert it to MP3 (using the Lame engine - the best on the planet) and they are both freeware programmes.

Most dvd audio is actually ac3 and some dts but dvd2avi will do the trick just as well.

  4. Indeed, I was just thinking of my home authored DVDs which all use MP2 audio as the PAL DVD spec supports it.

    Hi,

What I like to do is use software called mp3DirectCut, which is freeware also. It will record in mp3 format and you are also able to chose the bitrate and so on. It will also edit the mp3's a little.

CDex will take it directly from your cd and into mp3 (or ogg vorbis, or wma, or jesus there are a lot of options on it).

it can also reencode a compressed audio track into another format (a la wma -> mp3)

in my eyes, CDex is the best program out there for basic music stuff.

but if you are taking it from a DVD, you need to do what was stated above.

  7. is it right that besweet should be able to do this all itself though? I'm sure I got it working for me some time ago, but now when I try it doesn't seem to work. Is there a decent but easy to follow help page for it anywhere?
