I've read many things that say in order to get the .mp2 file that the ATI card captures as an SVCD to work in other programs like TMPGEnc, you must "demux/remux" the file. I know this refers to the demultiplex and multiplex items in the TMPGEnc tools, but exactly how do you do that? I don't see where anyone breaks it down. I've tried doing it myself, but TMPGEnc still won't allow the file to be accessed.

  2. Rename the .mp2 to .mpg if you recorded it with SVCD parameter and you won't have to do anything to it but burn it.
In TMPG Encoder goto the Mpeg Tool(s) menu selection to access Demux/Remux.

  3. I w3ould use bbMPEG instead of TMPGEnc
it's better and it cut at the same time

  4. ok, first, renaming the file from .mp2 to .mpg is meaningless. it doesn't change anything. you could rename it .abc and it would still have the same compliance issues. renaming it can be useful to change the association of the program that opens when you double click it, but that's it.

the ATI software _does not_ record a compliant SVCD. it does do compliant VCD. but to get a compliant SVCD out of it, record within the standard SVCD parameters (resolution, bitrate, frame rate etc). then go into TMPG tools and demultiplex using "simple demultiplex" into two new files, one for audio, one for video. you can change the audio extension to .mpa or something if it tells you you'd overwrite the original.

then go into "simple multiplex" and in the dropdown bar choose "MPEG-2 SVCD". then for video stream, choose the video file you just made by demuxing. for audio, choose the audio file you just made. then choose a new filename, and hit run. then the final file is all you need, you can delete the video-only and audio-only files.

run it through the fix12c.exe utility if you have a pioneer dvd player or another one that respects the SDE tags.
put the fix12c.exe file in your path, or in the same directory as the target file, and run it from a command line or the windows 'run' box

    fix12c "C:yourmpegfile.mpg" -v 480 -h 480

    then burn it

  5. what does fix12c exactly do? and when you talk about a pioneer dvd, do you mean a dvd-rom or a standalone player?

  6. What do you mean by standard paramaters exactly?

This is the exact problem I am haveing with my AIW with svcd.

I am really new to this so is there a specific bit rate, size etc that I will have to do?

    Thanks!
