I converted one of my dvd-rips into an mpeg. The resolution that i choosed was 704 x 480. when i dragged it into a super vcd or vcd window of nero, it says invalid resolution. so am i stuck with the 3xx X 2xx resolution? Does the resolution even matter or its only the bitrate that matters.

If you want to be able to make a VCD or SVCD then the res has to be 352x240/288 (VCD) or 352/480x480/576 (SVCD). You can't choose anything else. The resolution you choose also has to be the correct one for the format you are encoding to - eg. 352x240 for NTSC and 352x288 for PAL etc.
