  1. I'm using MaestroSBT + WinSubMux (latest version both) to mux ssa subs (that were converted from srt with subtitletool) to an NTSC 480X480 29.97 FPS MPG2 file - the subs are perfectly synced in VDMOD when I check them with the textsub filter but after muxing and burning they are out of sync on TV (as mentioned, about 1 sec early throughout i think)

    from a little searching in this board I gathered that possible solutions to the problem might be:

    a) "If you have 29.97 fps /NTSC / subtiltes when importing them into MaestroSBT you should ALWAYS set 29.97 for fps IN but 30.00 for fps OUT. Don't touch anything else and see how it works"

    or

    b) use 29.97 and drop frame

    sadly, neither worked - that is, the same exact problem occurred

    My player is Yamaha DVD-S520 with the latest firmware and i have already created PAL and NTSC 23.97 SVCD's with selectable subs perfectly synced (svcdsubs, they are the only ones supported) using the same exact method, which is described here - http://www.how-to-convert.com/ask_us/a7042003.htm . the subs are in Hebrew though i don't think it has any significance as the other two that worked well were in Heb too

    I'm using VCDeasy 1.1.7 to author the SVCD, no PBC (with it, i get no subs) and there's something that might be a factor here - vcdeasy says (for both the source mpg and the file with the subs muxed in it):

    MPEG2, PlayingTime=3603.700s, Bitrate=1849200bps, PtsOffset=0726s, 353073 packets

    Video Stream: Motion Video, 480x480, 29.97003fps (NTSC), 1575200bps
    Audio Stream: Audio Standard MPEG layer2 Stereo, 44100Hz, 224kbps

    CRC = 2E82E06F
    Size = 820541652

    mpeg user scan data: one or more bcd fields out of range for 'backward_i_offset': [00:0c.39]
    mpeg user scan data: one or more bcd fields out of range for 'forward_i_offset ': [00:07.0e]
    mpeg user scan data: one or more bcd fields out of range for 'forward_i_offset ': [00:07.0e]
    mpeg user scan data: one or more bcd fields out of range for 'forward_i_offset ': [00:07.0e]
    mpeg user scan data: one or more bcd fields out of range for 'previous_i_offset': [00:0e.0c]
    mpeg user scan data: one or more bcd fields out of range for 'previous_i_offset': [00:04.0e]
    mpeg user scan data: one or more bcd fields out of range for 'forward_i_offset ': [00:0c.3d]
    mpeg user scan data: from now on, scan information data errors will not be reported anymore---consider enabling the 'update scan offsets' option, if it is not enabled already!

    thing is, whether i use the update scan offsets option or not the problem persists, and vdmod doesn't find any bad frames.. i understand it simply means the mpg was encoded in some Chinese method but i don't know if it's supposed to affect the subs, and i don't know how and if i can change/fix that encoding method without reencoding (which is the whole point)

    here's a log of the vcd creation with update scan offsets:
    http://members.lycos.co.uk/yosi123/logwithupdate.txt
    and without:
    http://members.lycos.co.uk/yosi123/log-w-o-update.txt

    the lione thatr confuses me the most is this - "non-MPEG1 audio stream header seen" - It's not an MPG1 to begin with so what of it ?? anyway, i use vcdeasy's defaults, except for no pbc and i create a chapter every minute (FF doesn't always work so i just jump minutes instead)

    I then burn the BIN/CUE with Nero 6

    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.. i thought maybe use MPEGAV header? relax ASP constrains?? remux somehow with TMPG??? (though when i add the mpg to nero it doesn't say anything about compliance so basically the mpg is ok, and everything works well on the DVD palyer except for the sub sync)

    Thanks
