I'm sure there have been many theards like this but I searched and couldn't find what I was looking for.
I'm looking for both the cheapest media that is confimred to burn at 2x (2.4x for dvd+r) and the cheapest media that is confimred to burn at 4x. It doesn't matter what the media is certified as, in fact I'm sure the cheapest 2x will be certified only at 1x. So price is what I'm going for here but I'd at least like it so there arn't too many coasters so only post stuff you've had a pretty good success rate with. Either dvd-r or dvd+r is fine with me but I'd think dvd-r is cheaper although I may be wrong.
If possible please post links to an online store where I can purchase this media. Also note that I don't mind changing my firmware to whatever, just post what firmware you used to acheive the results, thanks a lot!

You need to define a coaster%. That is, you willing to accept say, 10% coasters.
Cheap=Coasters.
If you want no coasters, then you have a very small list.To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -

Believe it or not, I've had very good luck with Princo DVD-R on my Sony burner.

Thanks everyone. I'd say a coaster rate of 15% would be acceptable to me. Both http://www.yesbuy.net/4xdvdr100pcs.html and http://www.allmediaoutlet.com/P-DVD-R-4XP100.html offer Princo 4x that say they work at 4x with the Dru-500a. If someone can confirm that they work at 4x for them with a coaster rate of under 15% I'll do that.
Otherwise I remembered what my current dvd-rs are: http://www.meritline.com/ac47dvsilbla1.html they burn perfectly at 2x and are really cheap at 69cents each for a 100. -

Just thought I would put in my 2c over 2 of the companies that have been listed
Yesbuy.net - I will NEVER use them again. They sent me the wrong media last time I purchased from them and then refused to take them back. Well, they said they would take them back if *I* paid for shipping and then paid a restocking fee. This was because they Sent me the wrong media, not because I ordered them incorrectly
Allmediaoutlet.com - I will also never use them again. I ordered 200 blanks from them and one of the 50 packs that they sent was bad. The 8 first DVDs all were bad burns and had some ring in the middle of the dvd. (the rest of the packs all worked fine). They also wanted me to pay for return shipping and then they would not refund my money for the ones that I had already tried (like it was my fault they were bad). Then when I returned them, they refused to refund my money because they said they received them back longer than 15 days after they shipped them to me. (it took them 4 days just to get back to me after I continued to leave them voice mails over and over.. and yet those 4 days were held against me for the 15 day time period)
Beware.. they may have cheap prices, but just hope that you NEVER have an issue with them because they will screw you over -
Let me add Meritline.com to the list of retailers to avoid... they pulled a bait & switch on me.

As always
Rima.com or NewEgg.com and buy Ritek or Ridata DVD-R.
They work out to about $.90 each and no coasters. They also seem to be the most compatible across multiple players.------------------------------------------------
