hello all,
im trying to capture my home video using a dv camcorder and vegas video 4.
the capture comes out great with 0 frame loss...but the files are WAY big.
is this normal??
i couldnt find anywhere in vegas video where i could use any type of compression during capturing.
So my question is this: how can i minimize the file size when capturing using vegas video 4 and a DV camcorder.
btw. awesome forum and site. Ive spent hours upon hours reading and i cant even begin to describe how much i've learned. (or realized how much I dont know!!)

what's "way big"?
DV format is around 12Gb per hour.
what are you going to do with the captured file - play it on your computer? put it on dvd? svcd?
your final output will dictate the compression you need to use.- housepig
