    does a firewire connection transfer DV straight onto hardrive without any need for conversion etc. basically i want to transfer VHS onto DVD very easily with good results and am considering buying a Canopus ADVC-100 box to connect via a firewire to my desktop, and being new to this area i want to do it as easily as possible, any tips help would be much appreciated, i have read good things about the advc-100 on this site and it seems the easiest route to go down!

    There are 2 more pieces to the puzzle.
    You have to Encode the DV to MPEG2,
    and you have to Author the mpeg2 to DVD

    The only hard part is the encode because it takes hours.
    Look in How To: There are lots of encoders and lots of authoring programs.
