I have a disney kids VHS and want to copy the movie to my PC using my Canon zr40 digitial camcorder. I am trying to make a DVD so we can watch it upstairs on our DVD player.
I go from VCR to camcorder using the pass thru then to PC via firewire, but the camera displays "copyright protected, dubbing restricted" I dont know if it is the tape, camcorder or what. I assume this is macrovision.
How can I get passed this error so I can back up the tape??
I heard of the SIMA video filter that says it can do this (bypass macrovision) but I am not sure it will work.
Please advise.
Thanks
Lit

This device works but it's not for firewire. also I believe there are software utilities that will get past any macrovision however I don't know the names of them.
