  1. I have a DV camcorder, a basic firewire card which captures only to AVI, and an ATI All in Wonder 128. I was wondering if it was possibel to capture to VCD MPG with this equipment from my camcorder.

If so which software could do this. If not what do I need to upgrade, or is it simply not possible to capture and compress to VCD on the fly from a DV camcorder.

    Any info appreciated.

  2. Firewire transfer from DV camcorder will only give you DV AVI. If you want to use your AIW to capture straight to MPEG (if your card allows, I'm not an AIW user), then you'll have to bypass firewire altogether, and use your camcorders analog out port.

  3. For capturing and compressing to VCD on the fly from a DV camcorde, you can use PowerVCRII 3.0 .

PowerVCRII 3.0 allows you to encode DV as an MPEG file directly, and in real-time.

Can you download 30-Day Free Trial version in:

  4. I tried to use PowerVCRII 3.0 to capture DV straight to VCD already but the quality of the vcd file was not good at all.
My system is PII 800 with 512 Mb RAM, 40 Gb 7200 rpm HDD was used. Does anyone know what is minimum requirement for PowerVCRII 3.0 to work properly ?
