I tried to burn a bin/cue image made with forty-twoDVD-MPplus.
Firestarter gives me a 'write failed' message without comment.
Missing media burner returns this in the terminal:

    IODVDServices: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-105 Rev: A506

Process can be aborted with QUIT signal (usually CTRL-\).

Could this be caused by a strange variation in the cue file?

bin/cue files of other applications burn without problem.

Tanks for taking the time in reading this problem.[/i]

    Got Toast 6?
give it a try if you do.

otherwise, all i can suggest is perhaps pull the .mpeg files out the .bins and make new ones yourself with VCDTOOLSX. perhaps something went wrong with 42's making them.

lots of people have said they are having problems with 42 and the creation (if any) of the bin/cue files.

try that and see what happens.

    I don't have toast 6 yet. I'll give it a try with toast 5.2 (though I don't like it).

VCDtoolsX isn't downloadable anymore (the link on your site Galactica doesn't work, same problem with macdownload and versiontracker).

But since 42DVD-MPplus makes chapters on VCD, I think, starting from the mpeg, will loose the chapter marks.

Creation and burning of bin/cue always worked fine for me in the plain 42.
The MPPlus version makes good bin files, but I can't burn them (they play well in VLC).

Here's a temporary link until i get that straightened out

Ive only had problems like this when i had my superdrive in the lower slot of my comptuer *ie not the most terminal portion of the cable.

is this the only drive you have? Internal/external?

im not entirely sure if remaking the image make you loose the chapter marks, just try it and see.

If it would be a termination problem, I would have problems with writing the images that the plain 42 makes.

I have an eMac with superdrive (pioneer dvr-105), but I also tried to write to a DVD multirecorder (matsushita mechanism that reads DVD-RAM). But the drive wasn't recognised..

Many thanks for the vcdtoolsX link, but indeed the chapter marks are lost in the mpeg. Chapter marks are added after encoding, and are probably a separate file.

But the first tests in toast5 are positive. Only problem was that the bin files were KVCD2, so my DVD player plays the subtitles out of sync, and the lower part of the image is missing. Probably the player is not compatible with the KVCD2 standard. It was just a test. I'll retry with normal SVCD.

By the way, it's very helpfull to know there's someone who tries to help...

    Regards.

Sorry i couldn't solve the problem directly, I would bet if you had toast 6 there would be no problem.

unless its 42. the app is a little flakey at times and has been known to give people mixed results.
