I placed two seperate 30min episodes on an SVCD. I gave both of them chapters every 5 mins. Episode One goes forward and back thru the chapters no problem.
When I start watching Episode 2, I press the NEXT button but instead of taking me to Chap2 of Episode 2, it jumps back to Chapter 2 of Episode 1.

From here the NEXT and PREV buttons take me thru Ep 1's chapters.
It's like the player recognises the first MPEG's chapters only.

    Any ideas ?

  2. How did you Author the SVCD files ? and why didn't you just combine both of them to one large file and then create the chapters ?

I used VCDEasy to do the authoring. I left them seperate so I could easily jump in at start of Episode 2.
I made a menu screen that lets you choose which one you want to watch.

Because SVCD running times aren't displayed accurately I'm not sure how to set a chapter at exactly the right point.
The media player in VCDEasy's Chapter page doesn't work on my PC, it makes VCDEasy close.

I'm not sure if this is a related to a previous problem I once had.
When I tried sticking a 30sec Dolby demo on the front of my disc it put out all the chapters by the same amount of time as the running time of the Dolby demo.
Even though the Dolby mpeg was a seperate file the player still took it into account when jumping thru the chapters.
I fixed it by putting the demo at the end of the disc physically (but authoring the disc to play it before the movie)

Anyone make multiple mpeg SVCDs , with chapters in the mpegs ?

  5. I used TMPGEnc to join the 2 mpegs, and load that into VCDEasy, then I create the chapter points, you can still do the Menu to select which episode you want.

    Thats 1 work-around
    Ejoc's CVD Page:
    DVDDecrypter -> DVD2AVI -> Vobsub -> AVISynth -> TMPGEnc -> VCDEasy

    DVD:
    DVDShrink -> RecordNow DX

    Capture:
VirualDub -> AVISynth -> QuEnc -> ffmpeggui -> TMPGEnc DVD Author

How do you get the chapter point in just the right spot.
Can I just scroll thru the mpeg in PowerDVD and write down the mms ?

I seem to recall that the running time isn't exactly accurate or is that not so much the original mpeg but when put onto an SVCD that the problem starts ?

I have previously experienced on PowerDVD that the same point in a movie will show a differnet time depending if I just let it play normally up to that point compared to using the slider to get to that same spot.

  7. When you select the chapter tab in VCDEasy there's a preview display. Hit the Up Arrow button, this will load the video, then you can preivew the video and it will have a box w/ the time index on it, and if you want a chapter there you can just hit the ok button.

I found that if you have a VBR video it has problems (on my system) loading the video. And if I watch the video in PowerDVD and write down the times that they arent in the same spots when I burn the SVCD.

    I always use VBR.
I have the same problem when I play the mpegs in WMP. The Play and Pause button work OK but any other button and the slider cause it to close the file. Below is a piccy of the WMP error.

Is VBR my problem and not a codec thing.

I should try doing a little CBR test file and see what happens.

SVCD CBR file still didn't work. Although it didn't close VCDEasy , it just made it freeze up and stop working.

I've also noticed when I right click in the chapter list the "generate pictures" is greyed out.

I also tried VCD mpeg1 and it all worked fine.

Is VCDeasy limited to MPEG1 files in it's playing window ?

  12. Sounds like you dont have an MPEG-2 Codec installed. I'd goto the Tools page and download an MPEG-2 Codec. I use VBR and WMP plays em fine.

I have PowerDVD installed and TMPGE has Cyberlink MPEG2 Decoder listed in the VFAPI Plugin list.

Does the order that plugins are in in the TMPGE list affect how they work for other programs ?

I thougth that with PowerDVd installed everything should be fine.

I used Gspot to test the SVCD mpegs and it says there are no problems.
