I'm new at this and I'm having a problem. I'm trying to copy a DVD to CD. I'm using EasyDivX 0.82. After nearly 2 hours of copying, it said it was finished (Initially I thought this program was going to write the movie to the CD, but that was not the case. Its only a ripper. That's fine. I have Nero which works great). In the HDD directory I specified, I found all the VOB files, an IFO file and an AVI. I tried to play the AVI in Windows media player and I get no sound; none at all. Yes, I checked the volume in media player and I have sound for everything else in my system (games, CDs). I can play any other movie clip and get sound. I tried again but the result was the same. There isn't that much to choose from in the ripper in terms of configuring the sound. You can choose AC3 or Stereo which is the default and that's what I chose. I have DirectX 9, and Divx 5.0.2 installed and I'm using Windows 98. Am I missing something? Should I use another ripper, and if so, can anyone recommend one? What about DVD to DivX?
From DVD to VCD is this the process?
ripping, decrypting, decoding, encoding.
Did I miss anything? Can someone clarify these terms for me and put them into the context of copying a DVD to CD. I'm not certain of the meaning of each. Isn't there some overlap too? Isn't ripping and decrypting done at the same time or maybe that's decrypting and decoding - I don't know.
Thanks a lot for any help.
