i got my hands on what are french vhs tapes but when i play them on my video recorder( which is ntsc compatible)the picture is in black and white, is this an other knid of vhs tape or just that these ones are messed up, any help at all would be greatly appreciated![]()

The French tapes are PAL (720x576 @ 25fps), your NTSC system (720x480 @ 29.97fps) can't play them. You'll need to track down a PAL VCR.

sorry, man, my vcr is PAL, it just also plays MTSC on the side, ity must be faulty tapes, ah well, c'est la vie, thanks for taking the time to reply

I was under the impression that the French video standard is SECAM. Perhaps you should buy yet another VCR and TV.
