Autoplay?

I went by the newbie guide to getting a whole movie on one cd. I decided to divide the movie into two cds for better quality since the movie was 2 hours long. After recording these two cds, I put them in the dvd player on my computer and they won't play automatically. I can go to the file folders and open the .dat file manually and select a dvd playing program to play it, and then it will play fine. What do I need to do in the future to make these play automatically? Thanks in advance!

After recording with nero, my large mpeg file turned into 4 folders. None are executable files anymore. Just .dat and .vcd file ext.'s. Did I do this right? Should I have just simply copied the mpeg file to cd instead of going through the wizard for vcd in nero to make it autoplay?

I don't know about the autoplay thing but....Most people make VCD so that they can play them on their set top players. If you only want it for your PC then you can leave them in AVI format. That being said, if you burn an mpeg straight to disk the CD will hold only 700 MB while in VCD mode it will hold 800 MB. Keep that in mind.

ps Yes, you did it right. There should be 4 folders including the mpeg which is now a dat file.

Thanks for your replies. My main concern is whether or not it will play in my dvd stand alone player. I know that it will play vcd's, cd-r/rw, but its not hooked up yet for me to try (I have an RCA RC5240P). I thought that since it wouldn't run automatically on my computer that it may not in the stand alone.

Oh, I have 5 folders after recording. They are cdi, mpegav, vcd, ext, and segment. 2 folders are empty.

To have anything autoplay on your PC you need to write/add an autoplay.inf file for it. When it comes to standalones it's a 'feature' of each player if it autoplays x(S)VCDs. Most DO NOT. So unless you know someone with the same model it's hard to say if it will autoplay or not.

This is very confusing to me...please bear with me one more time on this subject.

My stand alone supports vcd's, so how will it play them if it doesn't have the autoplay feature? Does the standalone read folders? Thats why I was concerned about autoplay.

It just means that you have to hit "play" if it doesn't autoplay when the disk is loaded. Yes, it reads the folders and will not work if they aren't present.

The page is for making autorun. Could you advise me about how I can convert the VCD has only 2 files (autorun and vcd-play) to regular vcd?
