  1. So I had been having a problem with autoplay, not coming up when I insert any sort of disc(DVD CD).

I messed with it for a while, googled it, changed all the settings suggested in regedit, local machine etc etc. None of that worked. I know there is an autoplay fix tool or something like that from Microsoft. Haven't tried that yet because before I downloaded it I did a system restore and it fixed the problem. But then I had to go and reinstall the few things that the restore removed. Which was my Pinnacle Studio 11 Plus software. I have the movie box or whatever, so that I can transfer VHS to DVD, record tv etc etc. So I reinstalled it(because I need it) and it messed my autoplay it up again. So my problem is, I want this program, but I want autoplay too.

Is there a way to get them to work together??? Should I try the microsoft fix tool?

    Thanks

It should be able to reenable autoplay, manually or with the MS tool.

You could also try contacting Pinnacle. They may already be aware of the issue and be able to provide more feedback.

    chewie8008,

Assuming that you are trying to re-enable autoplay for a cd/dvd drive:

Click here to download TweakUI from microsoft.

    Run TweakUI
On the left side, expand "My Computer", and then "Autoplay" under "My Computer"
On the left side (under "Auto Play"), click "Drives" and then on the right side make sure there is a checkmark next to the drive you want autoplay to work on.
On the left side (under "Auto Play"), click "Types". On the right side, make sure there is a checkmark next to "Enable Autoplay for CD and DVD drives".

Just to make sure you know, autoplay and autorun are two different things. Autoplay checks the content of the drive (or the disk in the drive), and offers to start the right application (already installed on your computer) for that content. Autorun enables the running of whatever executable (on the cd/dvd disk) the autorun.inf file requests...for example, to install a new piece of software.

Edit: a brain-keyboard connection disruption caused the insertion of one unneeded word. Removed it.
