OK. After a week of trying Im convinced this card is junk.
I bought it with the intent of putting home movies from HI-8 tapes to DVD, (problem #1) but the only program that would capture (without massive lip sync problems) was VirtualDub. That brings me to problem #2, virtualdub will only allow me to capture in 320x240 mode.
Im either way off on settings or this card just doesnt do what I want to do. If anyone here has this card and can give me an idea what to change on settings or a program that you use that works please let me know, otherwise I guess Ill be in the market for a new card.
If its any help here is my system setup:
XP 2500 +
Asus A7N8X Deluxe Mobo
(2) 512 Cosair PC-2700
Adapter 29160 SCSI card
Seagate 18 gig 15,000 RPM (System Drive)
Seagate 36 gig 10,000 RPM (capture drive only)
Drives are defragged and there isnt any junk running in the background.
Thanks again for any help

Use the Winfast PVR software to capture with the Huffy codec use Virtual dub to extract the wave file. Use TMPGEnc to encode the video only. Use TMPGEnc or toolame to convert the audio to MP2 (mpa) auther with your fav program and burn it. ............. harrymj3

Download the latest Drivers and Apps.
When using the Winfast PVR software, turn down the preview quality to medium or low. High quality preview takes too much resources and can cause desync (at least on my XP 1700 system). Preview quality will not affect capture quality. -
Ok tried both of those things...I get a perfect capture now in 640x480.
EWverything looks great til I goto convert to DVD format....(It is much better now) but here is what I get.....I have a 40 minute video for about 3-4 minutes audio sync is perfect, then for about 40 seconds it gets out of sync, then back into sync for a couple minutes, then back out of sync, and it continues this throughout the video...Im gett closer is there something else I can do to tweak this?
Thanks for the help -
Does your captured AVI playback in sync? Make sure you check the middle and end of the video to make sure.
If the AVI plays back in sync, open your captured AVI file with VirtualDub. In VirtualDub, click on the Video menu tap and go down to Framerate. In the Framerate window, choose "select change so video and audio durations match."
Now frameserve to Tmpgenc and encode to MPEG2. Sync should be fixed.
If not, try using another capture app like VirtualVCR (may need BTWinCap drivers).
Reason: Some capture apps capture with dynamic (ever changing) framerates and even dynamic sound frequencies to maintain sync in the AVI file. However, when the AVI is fed into a MPEG encoder, the encoder is unable to handle the dynamic framerates and dynamic sound frequencies and so creates a desynced MPEG file. MPEG encoders need AVIs with static (unchanging) and standard framerates and sound frequencies. VirtualDub can lock down the framerates to the sound. Once the framerate is locked down, Tmpgenc can create a synced MPEG file.
Additional Note: I mainly use BTWinCap drivers and VirtualVCR instead of the Leadtek drivers and Leadtek capture app which I only tried a couple times. -
how you do the frameserve to TMPGEnc? I got it saving serving to TMPGEnc but I dont know how to get TMPGen to start the converting.
Thanks Alot for all the help. -
n/m I got the frameserving to work...its very close still just a tad off...now the first half of the video if just a hair fast and the last half is perfect.
I might have to try virtualvcr and see if I can get it right...It wouldnt be that big of a deal but the whole video is someone talking with the camera on them so its very obvious that the audio is off -
Hey, the card isn't junk.
I've been using it since day 1 without a single problem. I've done captures from my camcorder, my cable, and even a few from VHS, using only the software provided with it.

VirtualVCR link:
http://www.digtv.ws/
BTWinCap drivers:
http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/
Final Tips:
You probably have to uninstall the Leadtek drivers to use the BTWinCap drivers. The BTWinCap drivers are best for capturing to AVI but you won't be able to use the Leadtek software (at least I couldn't). You can try WinDVD Recorder or Cyberlink PowerVCR 2 which are software realtime MPEG 1/2 encoders with this card.
Also, note that the BTWincap driver is for video capture only (no audio drivers are included). But don't worry. You can use your sound card's line in to capture the audio (this works fine for me). Also, be sure to use the dynamic sync option in VirtualVCR if you decide to use VirtualVCR (which I really like).
I have since gifted away my Leadtek Winfast XP 2000 Deluxe card (I already have another older capture card that I can use). So, I can't really assist with specifics ... I'm just going by my memory of when I was using it 1 month ago. I still have my 720x480 29.97 fps NTSC VirtualVCR capture template if you want to use it.
Hope you get your card working perfectly soon. It took me a couple days to figure out how to sync my MPEGs and after then the card was working smoothly. -
Yeah if you still have that template for VirtualVCR I would like to try it out.
Thanks
