I have a digital video camera that I capture with through firewire, but now I need to capture some video off of a Hi 8 camera which has svideo out, and I need to capture from a vhs player that has rca out. So I need to know what hardware I need to capture from those two sources at the original quality and size into my harddrive. Is there something I can buy that will connect through firewire or usb? THanks

Yes, several cards can use all three options. I would suggest you go to the Capture Cards section at left and see what other users say what the cards you think you may want. When you think you have it narrowed down, post again to see what the gurus have to say about the card you think you may want. I also would suggest not taking a shortcut and asking what everyone feels is the best card. Here it is like asking what is your favorite color

you should be able to connect up your hi8 camera and the VCR, through your digital camera. check its manual, and see if it has "video in" or "line in" sockets.
some digital cameras need the footage to be recorded to the DV tape first, others let you "pass-through" using the camera as a bridge.
