Good Morning to All,
I recently purchased the subject software package in order to get better edits. Anyhooooooo. It does offer the ability to capture to VCD/SVCD/DVD from a composite input. However, no comes the problem, it does so in only the standard compliance parameters. I really would like to be able to change some of them, to make Xvcd/Xsvcd. I have found via some menu drop downs where the parameters I want to change are shown. However, they are ALWAYS grayed out. I have not been able to find the proper drill down sequence so that I can make my desired changes.
So my question to all of you ULMF2 users, How do you guys get to the screens that allows changes to those parameters.?
I am certain, there is something silly that I am overlooking but just cannot seem to find it. I have tried their weak instruction manual, however, it just says you can change the parameters but not how to get to the point where they are not grayed out.

I'm having a similar problem also. When I go to cature I can only select DVD and not MPG, which means I have to use the pre-existing templates and can't change anything like bit rate or number of frames, etc.
Anyone have any ideas? -
Do you have all the codecs installed that you need?
You might trying search on the Ulead forums. They're not as good as these boards, but all the qusetions are specific to Ulead products.

Denman007,
I am not certain about the codecs. If you purchase the package and install per the directions, should not all of the necessary codecs be installed (I'll worry about the quality, after I get it to work).
Anyway, I appreciate the time you spent in posting the link. Thanks,

Hi.
You choosed Standrad Template, so you can't change anything of it. If you want to change, click File> Project Property> Edit and you can create your own template. Hope it help you, BB. -
denman007,
I have tried for several hours to access the link that you provided and either the site is down or there is a problem with the link. Can you please recheck.
Tony08,
Yes I have been using one of the three options available DVD, VCD or SVCD. From you post, I take it that I select my choice then from the file pulldown select properties and then I will be able to create a new template with my desired settings and name which I can then choose later from the ???? (opening menu or where?)
THanks,
Ed -
From my experiences, creating a custom template only effects the final project, not the capture. The setting to capture are in the capture screen, while the other templates are for the overall project. I think we're talking about how to change the settings on the capture screen.

Good Morning,
Let me rephrase my question. I wish to create an XVCD. I still want the resolution to be 352x240 but I want the bit rate to be more like 1600 vice 1150. Or even better yet, allow me to change it so that I can get a video on two full discs. For example, a 105 min capture at standard VCD rates takes about 1.3 discs. However, if the bitrate is upped to around 1600 then it will take two (2) full discs. My thinking is why waste the disc space when some more bitrate will fill it up and produce a better picture in the process.
Yes, I am talking about a capture template. For those with ULMF2 once you have selected the project template then capture, there is a button at the bottom that says something like capture parameters. You can select MPEG but from that point on all of the parameters are grayed out.
Likewise at the top of the form you can change the mode to MPEG but the program will automatically change it back to VCD for you with in 5 seconds after selecting MPEG.
Giving up on changing the MODE, I tried to alter the MPEG parameters under the button at the bottom of the capture page. However, I can find NO way to change the bitrate (or anyother parameter for that matter) for preset templates nor for one that I can create. Yes, I can create my own templates but not from scratch. They must be started with a preset one, which predefined the bit rate parameter and it still cannot be changed.
The Users Manual that comes with ULMF2 is clueless as well as useless.
I have attempted to contact Ulead via their tech support forum but........

Hi Edd.
The first, i'm so sorry because I told you wrong. I'm using Video Studio, but you're using Movie Factory 2. I have tryed to do it in MF2, and I can't change anything. I think MF2 is simple software for beginner, If you want to change or create your own template, You have to use better software like Video Studio 7 or Media Studio 7, and ofcourse you must pay more. Please download VS7 or MS7 and try again, it's all I can tell you. Sorry for my bad English,. Good luck.
