  1. I have a combination problem with Ulead MovieFactory 4. I have it installed on a PC that is about to be scrapped. I thought I would install on my new PC and, at the same time upgrade to Moviefactory 6 (There is a good offer on this I see). I find I can upgrade to MF6 on my old machine but of course I want it on my new PC. I have tried to install on the new PC (Vista) and, as installing, I got error message ‘\Laun”db6.rra’ I switched off and retried and got similar error message ‘\Laun50F.rra. (Different errors I note) I ignored and proceeded. Despite the error messages the programme seems to have installed. No doubt when starting to use there might arise some problems due to the missing bits.

I then tried to contact Ulead but found support for MF4 was no longer available and to try the forums. I did note that my purchase of MF4 is recorded on my account records. Although registered for that forum I found for unaccountable reasons that I couldn’t do this. I thought I would register again but the detail required about my machine(s) was quite daunting so I gave this a miss and have come here.

I suppose my questions are [1] What do the error messages mean? [2] If I try to upgrade on my new machine, will this totally overwrite the old MF4 programme so that I then have a fresh start with MF6? I would appreciate any ideas on all this and, preferably, in fairly simple language.

    Thanks in advance. Mark.

If you have the same Ulead DVD MF6 I bought from the store, you'll need to go to their support site and download and install at least 2 of the patches for it to work properly. I previously posted some things about this MF6 and some problems I ran into. I also posted how I made use of DVD MF3SE templates with DVD MF6. You could probably preserve some of the MF4 templates the same way.
